Unusual Rusty Bomb Shelter

The factory had the task of building a bomb shelter on its territory. The task was unusual: to place it in a small area, to integrate one of the entrances into the basement of the factory administration building, to create enough places for workers, and also to fit it within the limits of the regulations. The result was this place: a partly built-in, partly freestanding shelter. However, after some time it rotted away.

Big Machines Factory

One hot summer day somebody knocked at the workshop gate. However, because of the screeching of the seagulls, no one heard it and did not come to meet the guests.

Sonar

Beginning in the 50s of the last century, the development of technology made underwater oil production profitable. Marine geology began to develop. In pursuit of resources, the USSR established new institutes devoted to research that will help to develop new oil deposits. Devices for scanning the seabed, instruments for the study of movements of subsurface water and oil layers, marine navigation, and communication systems. This institute had a hand in this and much more.

Soviet Science. Part 1

The magical country that passed away left behind a rich legacy. The type of economy has changed, and the agenda of research institutes, instead of developing science at any cost, has been replaced by rationalization. In this post, I present photos from several institutes of different scientific fields, of varying preservation and varying degrees of abandonment.

Taming the Storm

It's starting to rain outside. Or even a storm. Two unidentified men are trying to get inside the building. Neither of them wants to get wet, and it makes them want to finish the job as soon as possible. What a coincidence: they want to get to the place where this very storm is tamed by running it in a circle. The approaching thunder drowns out the sounds of squeezing through the narrow hole and the noise of footsteps on the metal roof.
